Phase 1 and 2 The project for Phase 1 was proposed in 2014.  The project is in progress, with Phase 1 expected to be complete by 2021.  It will have 913 acres (300 hectares) of trails that will connect the Olathe Campus to the University's campus (approximately a 40-minute walk) and will provide access to the Kansas City Zoo and the Kansas State Fairgrounds.  It will feature two entrances with entrances on the north and south sides of the highway.  The north entrance will be a large open area with an elevated pedestrian access point at the western gateway.
